Wu house

The homeowner did not impose strict requirements and expressed that the traditional living room and dining room layout was not mandatory. Instead, the homeowner expected that their residence could serve as a place to practice yoga and entertain their family and friends.
Considering this, we deliberately planned a ‘回’-shaped design for the space. The ‘回’-shaped space did not have a clear beginning or end in the movement flow, blurring the space boundaries and highlighting the charm of its fluid state.

The interconnected open spaces were characterised by a spacious layout and soft tones. The solid teak cabinet doors formed a continuous wall. The placement of an oval table in this area provided effective support for home working and daily dining, while also serving the needs of social gatherings. Paired with a series of eclectic rattan wicker chairs, we created a warm atmosphere that is essential for practicing yoga and socialising.

By breaking away from the traditional television-centric living room design, the sofa was placed facing the oval table to create a social area using furniture, thus further connecting the living and dining rooms to forge a spacious place for socialisation. Moreover, we drew inspiration from traditional buildings, with neatly-arranged gaps on the walls and above the doors reminiscent of window grilles, which helped to create an airy and transparent space filled with light.
