Neverland Estate

The name is inspired by the imaginary island “Neverland” from the Scottish novel Peter and Wendy, which symbolizes eternal childhood and an escape from reality.
We hoped to create a “Neverland” for the client, a place where they can momentarily leave the real world behind and enjoy moments of joy—hence the name “Neverland Estate.”

The project is a six-story detached house. During construction, the developer intended to provide future buyers with rentable spaces on each floor, with the first floor designed to potentially function as a commercial storefront. As a result, the spatial layout was somewhat fragmented. However, this configuration and functionality did not align with the client’s expectations.

The client is a family of three—a couple and their three-year-old child—along with two pet cats. Considering the growing child and the pets, ample space is required for daily activities. The home also needed to provide sufficient storage to accommodate the family’s belongings and maintain an organized environment.

The design’s core focus was on creating spacious, open areas, emphasizing a flexible functional layout and fostering a relaxing atmosphere with a clean, minimalist style.

The spatial layout is designed around a clear separation of public and private zones.
Private areas are placed on the upper floors, while public spaces occupy the lower levels to connect with visitors and the street. This arrangement also ensures that the private areas remain shielded from disturbances by visitors and the street, and that the public and private areas form clear, well-defined zones, while creating a more open and free-flowing floor plan.

The junctions between walls and cabinetry, as well as the treatment of the ceilings, are crafted as continuous, flat surfaces.
With minimal offsets and a uniform matte mineral finish, the space conveys a sense of purity and tranquility.

The carefully arranged gaps in the cabinetry and ceilings resemble sketch lines on a canvas, allowing the space’s detailing to be expressed purely through lines and the interplay of light and shadow.
